This single track from the very talented singer-songwriter Yael Lanciano's latest single "Runnin' Away" sounds like art. These magical bits of emotion were recorded in her apartment in Los Angeles and produced by the even more skillful Soundbetter, better known as Dibs. These things, this track, it's personal, and yet it's open. And that's pretty cool, I think.
The inspiration behind the song "Runnin' Away" by the artist Lanciano is a fear like many other people have and this fear is liking someone and not being able to make a move on the person you like. The song is brought to life in a warm melodious way, it sounds like this is a conversation that you’re having with a buddy.
“Runnin’ Away” grabs you the second you hit play and its all flowing vibes of sound surround you sending your musical being to a place of pure musical ecstasy. Lanciano’s vocals are just stunning throughout “Runnin’ Away.” She’s another singer on this EP that is a complete standout. Her voice invokes both vulnerability and strength that is truly heartfelt and beautiful.
A myriad of emotions can be derived from any one of Lanciano’s songs; a large classification of his songs can range from dance to healers, but the one factor that allows the listener to relate is love. “Runnin’ Away” is from the perspective of one party who is hesitant to allow their heart to completely be out, a situation many can relate to when there is a delicate dance between likes and insecurity opening up in such a situation.
Lanciano’s music genre is described as Alternative Pop, Commercial Pop, and Contemporary Pop which are all perfectly aligned to her musical influences: Lizzo, Doja Cat, and Dua Lipa. "Runnin’ Away" completely represents the empowering spirit and deep emotions that are in Lizzo’s, Doja Cat’s, and Dua Lipa’s music.
There’s something about heartfelt, well-crafted pop music that I don’t think will ever stop being special and exciting, and as far as authentic delivery goes Yael Lanciano has the same undeniable vein of soul in her voice that Katy Perry had in “Firework” so I mean yeah basically Yael Lanciano is just the new Katy Perry. This is undeniably an enduringly appealing track that transcends its flashy production and infectious melody and proves, once again, that there’s absolutely no thought needed—pop music speaks directly to the soul, I can provide proof that this is 100% true on my phone.
