The Television Academy has officially announced its host for the 77th Annual Emmy Awards, and it's none other than the world's most wholesome stand-up, Nate Bargatze. In fact, the man behind many of the jokes in The Combatant will return to the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, where Bargatze will headline television's most designed night, September 14, 2025, with his trademark humor.
Bargatze, known for clean, family-friendly comedy and an affably down-to-earth persona, should make for an inspired Emmys host, perfect for wading across the shallow but broad swath of viewers that most Emmy nominee shows do. At 46, the Tennessee native is surfing a career-high, and his picking as host of the 2025 Emmys only solidifies his status as one of comedy's most sought-after entertainers. "It's a huge honor to be asked to host such an iconic awards show," Bargatze said on April 16. "and I'm beyond excited to work with CBS to create a night that can be enjoyed by families around the world."
This is a big moment for the Emmy Awards and Bargatze. Although this will be his first time hosting the Emmys, Nate is no newcomer to the limelight. He had hosted Saturday Night Live twice before and was the headliner of Nate Bargatze's Nashville Christmas special for CBS in December 2024. Those hosting experiences, combined with his undeniable charm, should help make him an ideal choice to take the helm of television's biggest celebration.

Bargatze has an impressive resume away from the stage, with six stand-up comedy specials. His latest special, Your Friend, Nate Bargatze, was released on Netflix in December 2024 to critical acclaim. A master of observational humor and storytelling, Nate's comedic style is delightfully relatable, something we're hoping will add that perfect mix of heart and hilarity to the Emmys stage.
Cris Abrego, chair of the Television Academy, echoed the excitement surrounding the announcement, noting Bargatze's broad appeal. "Nate is one of the hottest comics in the business with a remarkable and hilarious brand of comedy that deeply resonates with multi-generational audiences around the globe," Abrego said. "We are thrilled to be able to leverage his one-of-a-kind perspective to entertain TV fans watching this year's Emmy telecast." Bargatze succeeds last year's emcees, Eugene Levy and Dan Levy, who charmed viewers with their sharply funny father-son rapport at the 2024 ceremony. Now, stir in Nate to bring a new voice to the Emmys, a voice full of warmth, humility, and belly laughs.
His selection also marks CBS's intent to expand the Emmys' reach in line with Bargatze's cross-generational fanbase. The Emmys have evolved from an award show into a cultural touchstone, defining the state of the television sphere at a time when every streaming service, cable behemoth, and even network television is vying for its share of the spotlight. And at a moment when audiences are hungry for authenticity and connection, Bargatze is a good match.
With excitement already brewing for the 77th annual show, all eyes will be on Nate Bargatze as he hosts the evening celebrating the finest in television. If you're an over-the-top drama lover, a comedy fiend, or a reality TV junkie, this year's Emmys provides a collection with a mix of celebration and humor that's a category all on its own.
